Saperavi

Red dry wine, protected appellation of origin ‘Sennoi’
Grapes: Saperavi
Volume 750 ml
Alcohol 13,5%

Peculiarities of vinification. The wine is crafted from Saperavi grapes, cultivated at Fanagoria’s best vineyards located in the Taman peninsula. Hand picking, soft processing, fermentation at low temperatures. The wine was matured for 12 months in French oak barriques.

Sensory characteristics. The wine has a rich ruby colour, with a strong and well-developed bouquet with tones of dogwood, chokeberry, blackcurrants, sour cherry, prunes, and leather, framed with dairy and tobacco-spicy notes, and a lengthy chocolate-plummy finish.

Food pairing: grilled meat, beef and lamb dishes, game, and matured cheese.

To be served at 17-18 °С.

Important! In Georgian, Saperavi means ‘painter’, ‘dye’, ‘colour giver’, because the berries of this grape variety contain a great number of anthocyans (a colouring matter), so do not wonder if your mouth and the glass will become coloured after you have tasted this wine.

Recipe: Dolma with red dry oaked wine Cru Lermont Saperavi Fanagoria.

Reviews

Decanter 2020 Tasting Contest judges about Cru Lermont Saperavi 2017

Smooth and seamless nose of chocolate, dark berries, mint and spice, leading to a polished, nicely-extracted palate with glossy tannins and sappy, dark fruit.

Caviste Yelizaveta Kuznetsova abour Cru Lermont Saperavi 2016

“A black berry and plum explosion with tangible barrel notes at the beginning. Good acidity and mature tannins. An absolute balance. Slow development into slight leather nuances, followed by heap of fallen autumn leaves. Changes continue for over an hour! A good wine, and event an excellent one for its price segment.”

Wine expert Denis Rudenko about Cru Lermont Saperavi 2015

“…being frankly, Cru Lermont Saperavi 2015 is a good stuff. Well, not 95/100 but 90, that’s for sure.”
